Nourish your body

Just like the Earth and Time, your body is irreplaceable, and unlike the advertisements, irreversible for the most part! There's no do-over once we mess up this body, so, it's crucial to keep this sophisticated mechanism in the best possible condition. Our progress, physical activity or lack thereof, motivation, willingness, mood, and pretty much our entire life is controlled by the food we eat and this is not an overstatement. The brain even though is only 2% of the body's mass, consumes 20% of the total oxygen and the fuel through blood flow. Feeding the brain the right is hence the key to how we lead our lives. This could be a topic worth writing a few books about, but I am going to try and summarize the key points here, more on individual posts.

Here are a few random bits of advice in no particular order, a few things that I know through experience, and a good amount of reading:

HYDRATION: Drink 3 liters of water every day as a woman, and drink close to 3.7 liters if you're a man. Water is the best energy drink you can have, and an underkept secret is that our bodies are 60% water- Blood, synovial fluid, Cerebrospinal fluid, and enzymes, all of them are fluids. Not to mention, our cells can excrete through cell walls, and only water could do it right. Ideally, distilled water with salt is the water, but I'd stick to filtered soft water. Also, drinking water after thirst is already too late, since thirst is when the brain runs out of water, by which the rest of the cells in our bodies are parched.

NUTRITION: This in itself can be the subject of long-lasting research and debates, but proven facts show the following: - MEAT: Human alimentary canal is not the ideal place for digesting meat. More on this in a separate post, but meat, with its lowest water content, the time it takes for complete digestion and assimilation, and the adulterated sourcing prove that it is not a viable solution as our body's fuel, if anything, they slow us down. - MICROBIOME: The gut in itself is a world and a brain of its own. It houses a microbiome with bacteria, Eukarya, and the Archaea in the range of 100 Trillion! So, the Gut can be called Superorganism, with a brain of its own in a sense. Feeding the right parasites keeps us in homeostasis. Essentially, the nutrients we ingest decide the bacteria that gets nourished. - DAILY FOODS: Continuing with the previous point, feeding the beneficial bacteria is important to keep our wellness. Essentially, the diet daily should contain Dairy or dairy alternatives, Dark leafy greens, assorted vegetables, grains and starch sources, nuts and seeds, legumes, fruits, and supplements along with water. Refer: Pick Up Limes' Sadia- Nourish chart. - SUGARS: Sugar is a depressant- The ice cream even though makes your lips smile, makes your body frown. You should not cut down on sugar, but eliminate it to the fullest possible levels. Of the many impacts sugars have on the body, the sugar from beverages tricking the appetite control system contributes to excessive weight gain. - PACKAGED FOODS: Foods that come in packages have several harmful effects on the body, including but not limited to the plastic and chemical contents in the package itself, the added preservatives to increase the shelf life, and the added coloring, flavor enhancement, and sweetening agents to make it all the more attractive to the senses.

OXYGENATION AND SLEEP:

Sleep is one of the important contributors to overall well-being. Unless we work on the core energy levels, we would require at least 6 hours of sleep daily. With a brisk walk in the woods and/or a workout routine, some breathing techniques can immensely enhance oxygenation at cellular levels. This is crucial to ensure that the cells stay lively and active.

Again, this topic is worth a few books! More on each of these topics in subsequent posts!
