The Kybalion

The Kybalion is a compilation of Hermetic teachings. There are seven Hermetic principles that the entire philosophy is based on. Together, these seven principles constitute an explanation of the basic laws that apply to all creation. The work is attributed to the Three Initiates. Dig deeper and you’ll find the Hermetic content was most likely passed from the late Yogi Ramacharaka to his pupil Baba Bharata to William Walker Atkinson, a prolific New Thought writer.

Here, All

Now, why do I bring this up? The book is an ancient text from 1908, and the extent of the understanding of the Universe is remarkable, given the scientific progress at that time. This book is an interesting read and after that, you can't unread the unimaginable possibilities in the truths of the Universe. I want to give you an introduction to the seven principles as a two-liner, and probably expand on those in future posts.

The 7 Principles:

  1. The Principle of Mentalism- The energy is Subservient to Mind. All is Mind, everything is mental.

  2. The Principle of Correspondence- As above, so below; as below, so above: there is always a correspondence between the laws and phenomena of the various planes of being and life.

  3. The Principle of Vibration: Nothing rests; Everything moves; everything vibrates.

  4. The Principle of Polarity: Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet.

  5. The Principle of Rhythm: The pendulum swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates.

  6. The Principle of Cause and Effect: Every cause has its effect; every effect has its cause; everything happens according to law; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the law.

  7. The Principle of Gender: Gender is in everything; everything has its masculine and feminine principles; gender manifests on all planes.

The Symbol:

The Symbol in the image below is the Kybalion sign: It is stated that the Circle represents the Universe, while the Triangle is the Ether. The Triangle is the representation of the Collective Consciousness of Everyone and everything. The Square represents the Earth, while the Circle within the Square is the Mind/Individual.
