The list of 15 lists to stay organized

Lists are a great way to keep your brain out of clutter and if you're an Upholder (Refer to the Four Tendencies by Gretchen Ruben), you'd geek the spine out of checking these items. I have a few lists that I religiously use and reuse to stay organized, and clutter-free.

  1. Daily To-do list Most of us have these, but how consistent are you in making this list, the time you make this list, and how good are you in getting these items checked off the list make all the difference. I make three sections: Work, Chores, and Personal.

  2. Daily checklist This is the standard little habit tracker I use every day to checkmark my daily habits- I have a list of 15 items here from various areas of life including health and wellness, skills, intellect, mindfulness, spirituality, family, and creativity.

  3. Weekly To-do list: This standard list has every chore I need to get done on a weekly basis. I also list down items like writing a blog post and a poem, and having a movie night or musical evening, which does increase the possibility of making these things happen, just to fix the upholder in me!

  4. Monthly To-do list: I use this template list the same way as the weekly checklist. Tasks like Washing machine/dishwasher cleaning, washing and changing sheets, etc. would be on this list and I think this list personally helps me stay organized and cleaner.

  5. Bills list: This is a more intuitive one, but to have track of the dates, amounts, and who needs to get paid, is oddly satisfying. Going the distance, having an Excel checklist with these columns tracked for the year to show the trend helps backtracking way easier.

  6. Running Grocery list: Has this ever happened to you where you know just what to get just until you reach the store, just to return without that specific item?! I've been there, done that! So, anytime I find I'm running out of anything, I immediately note it in this list, which always stays on my fridge.

  7. Standard Grocery list: This is the list of usual fruits, vegetables, and other grocery items we buy on a regular basis. I have this ready to go, along with the running list of groceries to ensure I do less than two grocery runs in a month. This helps me know exactly what I would buy in a store.

  8. What's inside list: This is a list of most of the produce items inside the refrigerator- predominantly fruits and vegetables, along with expiration dates for dairy and others. This is definitely helpful especially how certain produce can be lost in the land of cold air.

  9. Meal prep list: Just a list of meals I want to make in the current or upcoming week, or any good meal idea I come across in media would go into this list. This combined with the previous list is definitely useful when you're running short of time, and have no clue what you want to make for dinner!

  10. Nutrition list: This is just a reference list for me and this contains the list of nutritional requirements per day for my child, and the list of foods that contain that nutrition. I don't go by the numbers in calories and grams, but giving her a balanced diet using this chart helps my parenting anxiety.

  11. Goals list: This one is obvious to me, given that writing the goal down increases the chances of achieving it by 80%, no way in hell would I not take that opportunity. I categorize it into 12 areas of life and the goals listed in each area, to keep them in my morning journal, so I see them every morning.

  12. Movie/books list: The number of times I find an interesting movie to watch later, just to forget, just when I need them got to a point where it frustrated me, that's when I started writing this list. The same goes for the books I want to read. Usually, I search for them in the digital library right away, but those that I can't find would go in this list.

  13. Seasonal bucket list: Pinterest-inspired season ideas go into this list, and trying Pumpkin carving, and pumpkin spice-based drinks are definitely in store for this fall.

  14. Favorite songs list: One list that I absolutely love making is this- My favorite songs list, one for old Tamil songs, one for Indian songs- other languages, and one more for English and Spanish songs! Don't I love to even see the song titles and feel absolutely blissed out?!

  15. Ideas list: I list down every blogpost idea, and every poetry idea as soon as I get them in my head, because, one thing I know for a fact is that the Universe doesn't care who takes up the idea as long as somebody picks them up. I can't see myself without this list!

Happy Listing!
