Action vs Intention

With Action emphasized slogans like 'Just Do It', 'Actions speak louder than words', 'Act over Talk' continuing to occupy our scrolls and hence subconsciously registering in our minds, we tend to overweigh the importance of activity. Yes, action is good, a great thing in fact and yes, activity displays to the outside world, what matters to you, and hence helping the world determine and classify your existence into the socially cultivated framework.

We are constantly accompanied by these three possible actions at any given time: Thoughts, emotions, activity. The outer world sees the activity we do, and the former two can be easily obscured from outer view, so these become the breeding ground for all kinds of clutter, or flower if maintained in a certain state. With a continuous emphasis on action, we tend to forget that the activity stems from one of the former aspects: Thoughts or emotions, sometimes both. But do we always act upon the thoughts or emotions that come up? Maybe 5 out of 10 times. So, what happens to the 50% of the thoughts and emotions that spring up throughout the day, and hence our lives? Would they go in the abyss and lost forever? Isn't that a manual labour, we continue to invest our time, mental energy in thinking and feeling all those possibilities, and all for what?

Little do we know the intensity of those unspoken, undisplayed thoughts and emotions can move mountains! Dr. Joe Dispenza states that coherent thoughts and coherent emotions, when combined with your conscious focus create an unwavering intention which forms the basis of all manifestations. Thoughts and emotions are those unexposed, 'nobody knows' stages of an activity or outcomes you'd display for the World, although the unexposed stages needn't necessarily combine thoughts, emotions and focus. But the actions don't have to reflect your intention. Due to the unexposed, obscured nature of internal motion, we do not seem to put a metric pertaining to ethical and moral standards that the otherwise explicit actions and activities are subjected to.

Hence, unlike the house where the clutter is visible and obvious, the clutter within your brain and body stay invisible to naked eyes, eventhough the signs of the weight that the thoughts and emotions within you are clearly visible to yourself and sometimes to others, but in distinguished ways. Manifesting in ways like depression, hormonal imbalances, overeating, addiction, lack of productivity, insomnia, procrastination, laziness, unhealthy food patterns, uninterested in life in various ways, denial of the reality, regrets and guilts influencing actions, and much more. Although at the first glance these may look like a distressful event that an external situation or a person or a society created or led to, more analyzing would clearly show that these are a complete outcome of an individual's own rumination or imagination. The looming number of neuroscience discoveries about the importance of thoughts and emotions in an individual's well being. Wellbeing is not limited to just neurological health, but in all facets of life including but not limited to longevity, happiness, social relationships, genetic expressions, disease cures, and an overall elevated quality of life.

As much as the action emphasized world doesn't shed as much light as the internal climate within oneself deserves, one must be cautious of their internal environment, which determines the quality of one's life. Managing a clutter-free internal environment can be accomplished with a few basic understandings, abbreviated as R3:

  1. The first step to accomplish this is to RECOGNIZE the existence of these thoughts and emotions. Most often, they go unnoticed, just like the backdrop of a stage which doesn't get any attention, the entire drama of life experience is currently happening with the backdrop of those pre-existing unconscious thoughts and feelings.

  2. Next, REMEMBER these two golden facts: 1. Not everything that your brain stirs up is reality. Brain is a master meaning making machine, and when there's none, it works overtime to make sense of the situation, just the way it's been evolved to do for several thousand years. 2. Bring the backdrop of mind chatter and emotions that they stir up or vice versa into your conscious reality at any given time. I can't emphasize the importance of this one since this makes the mountain of difference between those who suffer their brain and hormones and those who give that space between these creation and themselves.

  3. RESPONSE GAP must be utilized to the fullest potential. Between a stimulus from an external event or an internal stir up and your response, there's a minuscule, internal space, a moment of decision making. It's imperative that you're conscious of this gap and utilizing this space and time directed to obtain more responsible outcome is where the difference between people and leaders lie.

Wishing you a clear intention and coherent action, aimed at the overall wellbeing of yourself and the people around you :)
